Wow, this back to work thing is really causing me to neglect my little blog here. I was so excited last weekend because I had so many things to share with you all this week, and here it is Thursday, and my first chance to sit down and finally do it. Never mind the fact that I need to remember what it I had to share in the first place. Luckily, there was no chance I could forget Modwalls tile. I absolutely love it! They have subway tile, penny tile and more at reasonable prices and in fabulous colors and color blends.

There is literally something for everyone on this site whether you want to bold and boisterous or calm and collected. And perhaps the most amazing thing they offer is custom color blends for their 3/4" Brio tiles so that you can create exactly the color combination you want and with a minimum order of only 20 square feet.

However, what lead me to the Modwalls site was the tile designs by Henry Road which are just lovely. From simple circles to modern blooms, it's unlikely anyone else on your block will have these wonderful tiles.

Etsy Pick of the Week: Buoy Pillow

When I first saw these life size Buoy Pillows by Cobalt Sky Studio on Etsy I thought they were cute, but then when I saw that they can be customized with a last name, house number, or baby's name and birth date, they became a little more irresistable. They are the perfect unique gift for anyone who lives by the sea or just loves the nautical look. And at $25, you can't really go wrong.

I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've known exactly what I wanted for fabric, but couldn't find it which seems impossible when you see the millions of options out there, but it's true. So I was so excited this morning to discover Spoonflower which allows you to design your own fabric and have it printed on anything from quilting fabric to organic cotton sateen to upholstery fabric and even a linen/cotton blend canvas. They also offer a great selection of pre-designed prints by textile and graphic designers and I just love that you can have any of them printed on exactly the type of fabric you need for your project.

There are infinite ways that you could use this fabulous site. It would be a great way to use your children's artwork...scan in the picture, upload it and make a pillow from the fabric. Then you've got a personal, useful piece of art in your home or to give grandparents. You can also upload photos. I think I may dig out my old textile designs from my RISD class and try one out. And I clearly now need to get a graphic design program on my computer because this could be my new favorite activity. Prices are totally reasonable and range from $18/yard to $32/yard and you only have to order 1 yard. Happy textile designing!

Hands On

I have never generally been one to capture my children's handprints, footprints or any other prints on a particularly regular basis, but lately I've been getting all sentimental about the idea that they will never be this little again. Maybe it's because my baby is turning one in a few short weeks and this MAY mean that the baby days in our house are over, but whatever the reason it's hard to find ways to capture these things that aren't overly cheesy. I actually really like this customizable canvas from Wisteria. It's colorful and big and at $39 you can't really go wrong. Even if you don't have any little hand or foot prints you want to preserve until the end of time, you could easily purchase it and make your very own masterpiece via grade school art project ideas (i.e. stamping apples, starfruit or any other object you love).
