Jonathan Adler Nixon Tables

Hi. My name is Sarah and I'm a Jonathan Adler addict. When the email arrived in my inbox last week announcing the new Jonathan Adler Nixon tables, I was pretty excited, but the featured color was brass with a walnut top. Lovely, but it wouldn't work anywhere in my house. Then as though a light shone down from the heavens appeared the picture of the polished nickel version with a navy lacquer top...

that reverses to white! It just kept getting better. I love, love, love these tables. I can surely find a spot to put them. The brass based version has a walnut top that reverses to orange lacquer that is equally as stunning.

The table is also available in a cocktail table version (above) and a dining table version (no reversible top on those) . Personally, cocktails and Jonathan Adler are two of my favorite things so I'm pretty much sold.

2011 Pantone Color of the Year: Honeysuckle

I have to admit that when I first heard that Pantone chose Honeysuckle as its Color of the Year, I envisioned something in a yellow tone. In my neck of the woods, the incredibly fragrant bushes and hedgerows of honeysuckle bloom in white with a yellow center. But they were indeed talking about the even more lovely variety of pink honeysuckle, and there are few colors I love more than pink (and I don't mean that in an I feel pretty, I'm a girly-girl kind of way).

This pink is not a soft pastel pink, but a bold, powerful statement pink which is just the way I like my pinks. You'd be hard pressed to find a ballet pink in my house. The bolder the better in my opinion. Pantone says, "Energizing honeysuckle lifts spirits and imparts confidence to meet life's ongoing challenges." This is MY color, and I don't think there could be a better year for it as I feel like all signs are pointing to GO this year and I'm ready to meet every new challenge and opportunity.

Of course, if you live with any males, it's not always easy to find an acceptable spot in your house for pink, but if you can, I say go for it. Great spots are a dressing room, sitting area, powder room, office or even the inside of a closet (if you really have to hide it and HAVE to have it) or the back of cabinets with glass doors.

Of course, you can always be really bold like the folks who have this kitchen. High gloss bright pink cabinets are sure to put a smile on your face every day.

If you can't quite make the commitment to such a bold color as a wall color, there are plenty of other ways to incorporate it without having it be the focal point in a room. One easy way is with fabrics like the above Balinese Batik by China Seas. I want a chair or bench in this.

Another one of my just discovered favorites is Jackie Von Tobel's prints which include the above Circle Trellis in Candy.

Von Tobel's Paisley Pillow would also be a lovely addition and add a punch of honeysuckle.

And of course, I can't leave out my favorite lacquer trays by Jonathan Adler. Put this on an ottoman or bar cart and you're sure to attract the attention you're looking for.

It's going to be a very (good) pink year!

Happy Chic Bedding

As most of you know, I LOVE Jonathan Adler...like in a hugely enormous way. So I was really excited yesterday when I saw that he has brought back his line of bedding. Yay! Being a Newporter and growing up in Lilly Pulitzer, I have to say that the Pink Flame Bedding pretty much sums up a perfect marriage of preppy and modern for me. It almost makes me want to move my 19 month old into a twin bed so that I can purchase it, that is until I think of the fact that she would be able to escape her bed and I might not sleep for months.

For a more subdued, but equally stunning look I like the Blue Syrie Bedding. I can't think of a style house that this wouldn't look great in. Beach house, city, suburbs...it just works.

Orange is one of those colors that I don't think gets enough respect. My bathroom is orange and I see people cringe when I say that, but then they see it and tell me how much they love it. Actually, the fabric of this Orange Mustique Bedding would make a fabulous shower curtain for said bathroom. The first thing I thought when I saw this bedding was that it reminded me of Matouk, quite possibly one of the best bedding company's on the planet, and this provides a similar look at a more affordable price.

New York Gift Show Roundup: Jonathan Adler

I couldn't have been any happier than to see the Jonathan Adler booth meet me at the top of the first escalator I went up as I entered the New York International Gift Fair on Monday. If I haven't made it clear before, I am OBSESSED with his products. His designs are the epitome of smile inducing objects. They are just the perfect mix of preppy, modern, and fun. I don't know if I am suddenly loving turquoise because it's the Pantone color of the year, but the Mrs. Godfrey Chair (above) is awesome and comes with an equally fabulous name. I'm also totally digging the Talitha Rug under it.

I love the combination of the chunky wood and lucite in the Bond Collection Tables. And the gold side tables are an amazing piece of functional art.

One of my favorite Jonathan Adler pieces are his fish platters, but I think all of his tableware adds a nice splash of color to every day.

Hollywood Lamps, British Flag and Anchor Rugs, and pillows galore. Yes please!

I love a splash of fucshia lacquer mixed in with all the white. And the Ropes Wallpaper will make its way into my house some day.

The only thing that could be better than his products, are his products in miniature. The Jonathan Adler Junior Collection is to DIE for. I seriously can't decide what my favorite piece is, but I'm pretty fond of both the Junior Lampert Sofa and the ultra chic Junior Templeton Chair.

I'm also really keen on the Anchor Blanket, Zebra Rugs, and those adorable animal puzzles on the shelf. The Dinosaur Lamp is also in the running to replace the Giraffe Lamp as my favorite. I could probably change the name of this blog to the "Jonathan Adler's Biggest Fan Blog" so I better stop now before I go too far!
